What am I gonna do with this?

Last night, or Devil’s Night, the town that I live in had trick or treating. I bought four bags of candy bars in prep. They were the kind of candies that I preferred when I was a kid. If I had gotten those cheap candies, I would have felt like a douche. Now I live in an apartment complex and there are 36 of us facing into a courtyard--easy pickings for kids. Unfortunately for them and my BMI, not one kid showed up to my door. Later in the evening I headed over to a Halloween party. Started off with Michigan-Penn State game and running into some old classmates. It’s sick but I kinda get a kick out of interacting with them and talking about other classmates when they don’t even remember who I am. Here I am with the Queen of Hearts. It’s too bad I don’t have a better picture as her costume is top notch.

Shorts

I just had put away my summer shorts. Now it’s warm and again and I’ve got to drag them back out. Believe me, that’s not a complaint! As I put the shorts away, I went shopping for some thermal underwear. There harder to find than I thought. Meijer didn’t have any. (They don’t have much of anything for men.) Then I tried the tractor and supply store and they had plenty of thermal outerwear but not what I was looking for. I checked out Dick’s and they did have some—for $30 a piece. No way. Even though the Wal-mart website said that my local store didn’t carry them, it turns out it does for $6 a piece. …Yeah, you’re not gonna see a picture of that. Since I mentioned Walmart, I have just recently found out the term for a group of people that I look down upon: University of Michigan fans that have no connection whatsoever to the school. They’re called Walmart Wolverines . Check this out: h/t to Forgazi for putting up (and creating?) this video. That was a parody for the Pure Michigan ads

You heard it. “It was because of his role on Fox.”

I wasn’t terribly surprised the other day when I heard that NPR fired Juan Williams. I would say that it has been well known that NPR had not been comfortable with their employees appearing on Fox News—in particular, Juan Williams and Mara Lisasson. The reasons they gave for terminating his contract was a breach in their ethical standards. Mr. Wiliams shouldn’t have offered his personal opinions on a pundit show because his position as an NPR analyst. While I used to watch punditry shows like Hannity and Colmes in the past, I don’t anymore. I actually find the more balanced shows like Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and Meet the Press more intellectually stimulating. It’s because people like Mr. Williams can provide a different perspective in what I see as a calm and reasonable manner. I think that the huge support that he is seeing not only from his fellow leftists, but also from the right* has to do with the respect that he has earned. Was NPR right? Well, I think that thei

I Hate to Break it to Ya

After the recent number of teen suicides brought on by homophobic bullying, Facebook has decided to take steps in removing hateful and inflammatory speech. When this was reported on in the news, a number of commenters expressed disapproval that Facebook would do such a thing. I guess their fear is that they won’t be able to call people "fag" as much as they want. I especially love those people that are claiming that this violates their right to free speech. That’s absurd. Facebook is not the government and users are not in a public forum. That company has a right to restrict what it wants and when it wants. I laughed when one said that the federal government should step in because Facebook has become a de facto public forum. I don’t think that Facebook is interested in restricting a homophobe’s views but really… bringing hateful speech to a site that is dedicated to gay youth is a slap to gays and their allies. I am glad to see Facebook taking a stand to keep a lid on

Wow, that's quite an image you paint...

From an article a few days ago that I forgot to keep a link of : America Today-Anthony Thankfully someone brought up the truth of "gay pride" events and this misconception that homosexuals like to bring up about their conservative natural lifestyle they choose to live. Is part of being a responsible conservative homosexual getting a complimentary bag of rainbow condoms and spermicidal lube during New Orleans LGBT Pride Weekend? Trying to tend bar during that weekend was like being dropped into the orgy scene in Conan the Barbarian... So filled with guilt and so wanting to be accepted. Methinks Anthony is one of those guys that would like to have his luggage lifted.

Yay! Wait... what?

I just learned that in a nearby town, there is a Walt Disney Elementary School. Okay, who wants to break it to the new kindergartners that this place, which sounds like a magical, fun-filled school, is really the beginning of 13 years of hell?

My short time with the Droid X

As promised, here is a more in length review of my new cell phone, the Droid X . I’m not gonna bother too much with the specs, just my reaction to them. If you want to know the details, click here . First of all, this phone is pretty big as you can see and initially I thought that this might be a problem since I have considered my BlackBerry Storm to be as large as I’d want to go. Actually, the size has not been an issue at all. It’s thin enough that it slips into my pocket easily. Not being able to carry it around in a pants pocket is really the only worry I have when it comes to the size of any device. The 4.3 inch screen is great for browsing. Funny, though, when it comes to typing on the virtual keyboard in landscape, it can seem too big as your fingers require a lot of travel. Radio reception, I have found has been excellent. Where I live, the Verizon signal was poorly picked up by my BlackBerry Storm and I have even suffered a couple of dropped calls. With the Droid X, th
