Pure Blue Michigan

Conventional wisdom holds that the party of the sitting President takes a beating in the midterms. There was talk about a "Red Wave." I had my doubts of a wave but I did expect the Republicans to claw back enough seats to flip the House and maybe the Senate. It was just a question of how much. To my surprise the Democrats have done very well. As I write this, there are still enough seats in a tossup that no party has control of either chambers yet. The Dems in my home state of Michigan did very well. Governor Whitmer was able to fend off Tudor Dixon. The Attorney General and Secretary of State also held their seats. Proposition 3 which would protect abortion access in the state constitution also passed. These wins weren't unexpected though. What I wasn't paying attention to was that the Democrats have now taken the State House and State Senate.
