Okay, so they got married.

When I got to work on Friday morning, the one question that was floating around the place was, “Did you watch any of the wedding?” I did not. I’ve got something better to do at 0500—sleep. It’s not that I’m not totally devoid of interest for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage, I just figured that I can catch the highlights on the news. Lord knows there’s been enough news coverage already. Sure enough, I got more than I cared for that night when I turned on the national news.

Argh! Why is this still coming up?

It was bad when Donald Trump decided to throw his hat in the ring for President. It got worse when he moved up in popularity amongst the Republicans. It is now over the top as Trump has basically presented himself as a birther-a person who believes that President Obama not a natural born citizen. Whether that means, he’s Kenyan, Canadian, or Indonesian… they haven’t quite got that pinned down yet. I am so over the birther crap and it’s embarrassing that I share a political party with them. I never questioned whether Obama is a natural born citizen. It’s simply something that I am not concerned with. Besides, if there was any shred of possibility of this being true—trust me then Senator Clinton would have been all over it. I think it would have been funny if Barak Obama had been born in the Panama Canal Zone. Oh wait, that was Senator McCain!

The Ginger Ale Challenge

When it comes to ginger ale pop (or soda for you other people), I’ve always preferred the local Vernors over all other brands. My dad prefers Canada Dry so as a kid, Vernors in the house didn’t happen unless I got it myself. On a whim, I picked up three brands of ginger ale that is sold locally: Schweppes, Canada Dry, and Vernors. I ended up tasting all three and found that I really do like Vernors the best. I don’t critique consumables very well. I just like what I like but to give you some analysis I suppose that Vernors as a cleaner taste. Schweppes made me pucker up a little and both it and Canada Dry had more of a lingering after taste. Vernors also has a very noticeable vanilla taste to it. Ugh, I’m going to have to drink 4L of so-so pop before I can finish off my now confirmed favorite brand ginger ale.

I’m sure these numbers and letters mean something.

During my senior year of college, I saw an interesting presentation on television called Journey of Man: A Genetic Odyssey . Basically, it was about tracking the human migration out of Africa and into the rest of the world all those tens of thousands of years ago. How they do this is finding mutations or markers in genetic samples from populations all over the world. By identifying and comparing these markers they can find common ones that bind different groups together. …Oh just watch this . I sent in a sample a few months ago and I just recently got my results. I don’t know much about my family tree beyond a few great grandparents on both sides. I’ve heard stories. Like my paternal grandfather’s family is descended from some Scandinavian royal house or that my maternal grandmother’s family we wealthy landowners from Spain. I’ve come to just accept that one side of my family is essentially German, and the other side is essentially Malay. I wanted something more than just a ver
