The game against Kentucky was one of the most exciting and gut-wrenching that I have ever seen. The lead see-sawed back and forth but never by much. For most of the game, you could never be sure who was going to come out on top. In the last few minutes of regular, Kentucky attempted a 3-point shot to tie up the game. The first and second attempts bounced but the third attempt they managed to get it in, sending the game into over time. That shot to tie up the game kept me on my seat because for a few minutes, they had to decide whether that was really a 3 pointer or if it was really a 2 pointer because Sparks looked like he was stepping on the arc line. The 3 points were awarded.
In first over time, the wildcats clawed to the lead and my stomach probably hit the floor. As the announcer said, that shot that took the game into overtime had energized the team. And after some mistakes by Hill that gave turnovers to Kentucky, I was about to go to my knees and pray. Final moments and Kentucky was up 81-80 but thanks to a free throw shot, MSU managed to tie the game 81-81. Second overtime. This game had me standing. The Spartans managed to get the first 3 points and managed to keep the lead and win the game 94-88.
Oh... and congrats to the Lady Spartans with their win over Vanderbilt.
