They still allow smoking here?

Amy K. contacted me a few weeks ago, asking me to befriend her on Facebook. Amy K. and I used to go to high school. She was in the class ahead of me. I haven’t seen her since she graduated from high school—1999. Since I went to a small school, interactions between the grades were normal but I felt more comfortable with her class than any of the others. Amy was one of the closest friends that I had there. She had recently moved to South Haven which isn’t that far from where I live and so I asked Kacey (another high school friend) if she wanted to go and visit her. Last night we did just that.

It was a mini high school reunion. Class of 1999—Amy, Kacey, and April. Then there was me from the class of 2000. We met up with Amy first in South Haven and then Amy drove us to get April in Kzoo where we also stayed for the evening’s fun.

Okay my memory is a little hazy…

We went to this bar in DT Kzoo which was right above the comedy club that we had reservations too. I think the comedy club’s name is the Shakespeare Club. So back to the bar. It’s an excellent place to start the evening. Actually, it’s a place where you could probably spend the whole evening but if you are looking for a place to have a bite to eat before heading out to the clubs, parties, bars, whatever, it’ll do just great. The food was very good, although the Turkey Artichoke sandwich that I got was an odd color of orange-yellow.

The headliner for the comedy club was this guy:

Normally, I don’t think highly of comedians who have to rely on sex to make their act funny. It’s like the lazy man’s way out. But—he did have me nearly falling out of my booth on a couple of occasions.

The only thing that I did not appreciate was that there was only him. So when Amy comes down, I’ll have to take her to the Funny Bone. It’s a bit more expensive but the it lasts a lot longer since they have (at least whenever I went) the headliner plus to other acts.
We were supposed to go dancing but we were tired. Tired at 11pm, isn’t that crazy?! It just as well since I had to drive back to Niles and didn’t get back there until 1am. I suppose we could have stayed at April’s or Amy’s but that would have involved dealing with either a cat or a devil dog. Neither was appealing.

h/t to justinasharlilpagi for posting the vid clip to YouTube.

Comedy clubs are the way to go, to have a good time.

You were in Kzoo and didn't tell me?! for shame! Shakespeare's is a pretty popular place around here. Can't say that I've ever been because of a "minor" technicality, but you know how it is.

I liked it just fine but the Funny Bone in Mishawaka is better. The bar above it though was great though.
