At commencement, when they read your name, family will hoot and holler. I knew that my parents wouldn't do such a thing. Before I went up there, I tried to remind myself to listen to see if I got anything. I really was expecting silence. Not that it mattered, because I was in a state where I couldn't even hear my own name. I was so concentrated on not somehow tripping up in front of a few thousand people.
Now I see that at least a few people did raise their voices for me. Thanks Amy, Dusty, and Christian. (And probably Jaemi, Jeff and Rob.)
