"Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot

I've been listening to this song quite a bit. It's not new to me as I've heard it every once in a blue moon ever since I can remember. I just recently downloaded it and so I am learning all the lyrics. It turns out that I was way off when I sung along to this in the past! When traveling with my dad, all you will hear on the radio is talk radio and oldies. I used to hate it but I've come to realize that I've adopted the same habits. So if you are ever riding with me, you are going to hear either talk radio or oldies. Alright, alright, you may catch me playing some pop if my friends are with me. One of the things that I like about oldies music is the stories that go along with them. Today's pop music is just crap that gets repetitive. Read through the lyrics:
I can see her lyin' back in her satin dress
In a room where ya do what ya don't confess
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you bin creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you bin creepin' 'round my back stairs

She's bin lookin' like a queen in a sailor's dream
And she don't always say what she really means
Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain
Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain

I can picture every move that a man could make
Getting lost in her lovin' is your first mistake
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you bin creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sometimes I think it's a sin
When I feel like I'm winnin' when I'm losin again

I can see her lookin' fast in her faded jeans
She's a hard lovin' woman, got me feelin' mean
Sometimes I think it's a shame
When I get feelin' better when I'm feelin' no pain
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you bin creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you bin creepin' 'round my back stairs
Sometimes I think it's a sin
When I feel like I'm winnin' when I'm losin' again
I've been wondering what the story is with this song. The comments section at Leolyrics sometimes gives me insight but there was nothing worthwhile for this song. Just by reading the lyrics, what do they mean to you?

I'm not sure with this one but to me, it appears that the singer's wife (or at least significant other) has been cheating on him with another man. "Sundown" I take it, is the guy that has been messing with his partner. What do you think?
